In the 1990s I stood at a sixth-floor window of the Texas School Book Depository next to a friend who was a sniper in the United States Army. I asked him what he thought. He said it was a very easy shot.
I have been reading about the assassination since I was a child watching the Zapruder film on television. I lived and worked in Texas and I have gone back to Dealey Plaza more times than I can count. I have spoken with people who were there, among them Mary Ann Moorman, who took the photograph from the south side of Elm Street, and the late Clint Hill, the Secret Service agent who reached the car.
I built the reconstruction this book is measured against myself, alone, from one fourteen-row survey table made in 1964. I hold no position in this field, belong to no institution, and ask you to take nothing on my authority. Every claim in the book is sourced so that it can be checked without me.
